Meet Max!

WOW!  So here you go…!

Maddox Hayes Stanfill born on Monday, April, 12, 2010 at UT Hospital at 11:46 am weighing 7 lbs. 6 oz., measuring 19.25 inches

He was delivered by Dr. Heather Moss with UT Women’s Specialty Care.  We just love her and her staff dearly!  Reagan adores her and her sweet nurse Darlene.

I’ll give you a rundown of how everything went…

I didn’t sleep any Sunday night (like not even 5 minutes)…. I guess I was super anxious about the induction and well, a little emotional/hormonal.  (Just ask Daniel! haha)  So we got up at 3:00 to get ready to go to the hospital.  I had a terrible migraine.  We got to the hospital around 5 am.  I was so sick with my headache that I threw up in the hospital parking lot and again in the waiting room.  I was thinking…” maybe we should re-schedule this event because this is NOT how I want this day to start”.  Luckily, the beginning of the day was no indicator of what was to come!

I was 39 weeks and having a scheduled induction.  I was 4 cm when we arrived at the hospital which tells me that I probably would have had him pretty soon, anyhow.  They gave me a couple different medications that wiped out my headache.  Everything, after that, was pretty smooth sailing!  After they started the pitocin, I was like 11 cm in almost 2 hours!  I got my epidural right before the contractions got too painful.  My parents showed up with the kids.  They came in to see me and we started pushing within a couple minutes.  3 pushes later- Max made his debut!  Daniel, my parents, Daniel’s mother, and both girls were in the room to see his delivery.  The girls did great.  Emmy wasn’t all that interested in what was happening.  Reagan closely watched and asked me probably 30 times if I was okay.  She was so sweet.  My Aunt Kay, brother Jared, and sister-in-law Angela were patiently waiting in the waiting room to meet him.

It was pretty much a flawless labor and delivery- considering all things!  =)  It is really something to be able to smile and enjoy the birth your baby with your family.  I DON’T know how women have babies without epidurals.  I guess I’m a big wimp.  My Dr. told me if I decided to have another baby (NOT ANY TIME SOON!), that we needed to do an induction again because she is afraid that I wouldn’t make it to the hospital in time.  That’s cool with me.  I am not interested in having a baby on I-75!

I’d like to thank everyone for the sweet comments and messages on Facebook.  Thanks to all the family and close friends that dropped by to see us on Monday!  And thanks to my Aunt Kay and mother-in-law Susan for helping me during my hospital stay.

Here are some pictures… (what you’ve waiting for, I know)

Here is Max with Reagan right after his birth.  (Emmy is pretty rough so she didn’t get a sweet picture with him.  It would have been one of her whacking him upside the head!  We’ll get that picture soon enough- I’m sure.)

Here’s a picture after his sponge bath just a few hours later.  He’s in my lap.

Here’s another shot taken the next day (1 day old) in his going home outfit.  YES, I had a baby on Monday and came home on Tuesday.

Quick turn-around, right???  Like a drive-through or something??  =)

Here he is in his room at 2 days.   Bright eyes!  HELLO Max!  There have been a lot of opinions given on who he looks like.  I hadn’t really shared my opinion, but after looking at this picture.  It is crazy how much he favors Emmy when she was a few days old.

In my lap- again!  I can’t even put him down to take a picture!

He is a great baby!  He hardly cries.  Lucky me!  He gives the sweetest little smiles while he is sleeping.  I adore him!  I can’t put him down.  Oh yeah, he has that unique, newborn baby smell that is just bliss!  We are so blessed and thankful to have such a healthy baby boy!

Not so comfortable with changing little boy diapers yet.  Ouch!

I took him to the Dr. today and he checked out fine.  His bilirubin was a little elevated so I have to take him back tomorrow for another check.  Both girls had jaundice so it is something we are familiar with.  Breast-fed babies are much more likely to have jaundice.  My milk just came in last night so I am expecting a complete turn-around when I take him back tomorrow.  With that being said, we are doing a lot of nursing and diaper- changing right now.  I even took him outside to be in the sunshine and watch the girls play today.  I have loved having a spring time baby!  (Both girls were born in late fall/winter so it was too cold to enjoy going outside.)

My mother took off the entire week to keep the girls for me.  It has been really convenient and awesome for her to be keeping them.  My parents live right around the curve from us so it is just a hop and a skip away.  I think the girls think they are on vacation or something.  They love the yummy food and playtime they get at Granny’s house.  Reagan asked me tonight if she could home next year!  haha  I love you so much mom!  You are irreplaceable and a wonderful mother and grandmother.

The girls will come home for good in the next day or two.  Thing have been peaceful, but it will soon be SUPER CRAZY when they come home.  The calm before the storm…….  haha!  I am not sure what I will do when all 3 children are crying at the same time.  LAUGH or CRY?  Probably cry.  =)

I am hoping to get in the studio with Max in the next few days.  I am anxious about taking his pictures.  He better cooperate for his mommy!

Stay tuned for more happenings in the Sweet Life of Reagan, Emmy, and Max!
