Baby’s First Year Photography: The first year of a baby’s life is a whirlwind of change and growth. In just 12 months, your little one will go from a tiny newborn to a walking, talking toddler. It’s a time that you’ll want to remember forever, and one of the best ways to do that is through photography. Southern Charm Portraits proudly specializes in newborn & baby’s 1st year photography! We have photographed children from birth into their teen years and have a combined 30+ years of experience under our belts when it comes to working with little ones and their families.
Milestones: Some parents choose to have their baby photographed at newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 1st birthday! There is so much growth between each milestone your baby will have changed rapidly in between each session. An alternative would be to capture your baby when after birth, when they start smiling, when they start sitting, when they start standing, and first birthday!
Our baby plan or milestone sessions are just “book and pay as you go”! This way, families do not have to make a big financial commitment up front and can figure out what works best for them! Baby’s 1st Year Photography doesn’t have to break the bank. Southern Charm Portraits also offers seasonal mini sessions that might work to capture your baby’s 1st year milestones.
What to Expect: After your newborn session, you can expect your milestone sessions to just be 30 minutes long! Our 30 minute session is an amazing fit because we can capture your baby quickly and efficiently while they are happy without them tiring out and becoming distracted, hungry, or fussy.
We recommend 2 outfits that are simple and neutral. We have trended our work to be as classic and simple as we can over the recent years. We don’t want your baby’s most special features to be lost in busy backdrops or outfits that will soon go out of style. We hope that the portraits will let your baby shine with a classic look you can enjoy forever.
Here are a few tips for getting the most out of your baby’s first year photography sessions:
- Follow our instructions. We have been photographing babies for years and years and have curated a process that we believe works best for keeping babies happy and sessions stress free.
- Plan to bring us a well fed baby. Feeding your baby before you come or arriving early to feed beforehand is good plan and recipe for happy baby! {Plus, you do not want to lose session time to feeding.}
- 2 outfits – We highly recommend limiting your 30 minute session to two outfits for baby. Most babies are agitated by outfit changes. We would rather keep baby happy and spend our time together shooting than changing clothes.
- Be flexible and relaxed. Your baby can sense if you are anxious or nervous about your session. Try to plan and prepare for success, let us do what we do best, and enjoy the process as much as you can!
